Red-Hot Thriller Jekyll & Hyde, Starring Constantine Maroulis and Deborah Cox, Opens on Broadway

Frank Wildhorn’s Jekyll & Hyde has returned to the Broadway stage, officially opening at the Marquis Theatre on April 18. Directed by Newsies helmer Jeff Calhoun, the new production, starring Tony nominee Constantine Maroulis and Grammy nominee Deborah Cox, comes to Broadway fresh off a 25-week national tour.

Based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Wildhorn’s pop-rock opera tells the story of a genial English doctor whose lab experiment inadvertently transforms him into an evil alternate version of himself. Can Dr. Jekyll save himself—and the people he loves—as Mr. Hyde continues his spree of violence and destruction?

In addition to Maroulis as Dr. Jekyll and Cox as kindly prostitute Lucy, Jekyll & Hyde stars Teal Wicks as Emma Carew, Laird Mackintosh as John Utterson, Richard White as Sir Danvers Carew and David Benoit as Bishop/Spider. The cast also includes Stephen Mitchell Brown, Jerry Christakos, Dana Costello, Wendy Fox, Brian Gallagher, Sean Jenness, Mel Johnson Jr., James Judy, Ashley Loren, Courtney Markowitz, Aaron Ramey, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Rob Richardson, Blair Ross, Doug Storm, Haley Swindal and Jason Wooten.

The production features music by Frank Wildhorn, a book and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse, set design and costume by Tobin Ost, lighting design by Jeff Croiter and sound design by Ken Travis.
